Charitable Support

The Ottawa Police Veterans Association has existed since its first AGM held in October 2014, and we have taken the approach as a Board that any funds we raise would all go to charitable causes.

On an annual basis, the Board, upon solicitation of its members, selects three charitable causes to support. In support of these efforts we run events to raise money, including an annual OPVA Golf Tournament, usually held in late August.

To date we have raised over $111,500.  All has been donated to a number of CRA registered charitable organizations over each year.   In addition, we have raised  $28,500 for our OPVA Benevolent Fund for retired members in need, managed by an OPVA Committee under the Board of Directors.

More information on charitable support is available on the ‘Members Only’ page entitled ‘OPVA Golf Tournament.  This tournament began in 2016 as a joint venture with the Ottawa Police Association (OPA).  The primary organizers were Guy Mathieu and Gary TYO,  both retired police members and Directors with the OPVA. In 2017 the OPVA took over management of the golf tournament when the OPA was unable to continue planning it.
